Aberystwyth - Now 1 Day
Due insufficient entries to stage 2 days of racing, we have had to make the decision to run all the races on the Sunday making it a 1 day meeting. Whilst we appreciate that this decision will be met with disappointment from a lot who have made plans, nobody is more disappointed than us. -Aberystwyth Committee

Kit Bousfield
Today is a sad day for the harness racing family, our patriarch Kit Bousfield closed his eyes for a final time, peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by his beloved family, in his own bed at Holme Farm and just a few weeks away from his 102nd birthday. Sleep peacefully Kit. Our thoughts go to Sandra, Helen, Claire, Catherine, Rachel their partners and all his grandchildren at this sad time. Kit Bousfield Hall of Fame Article

Alex McDonald
The BHRC were saddened to hear of the passing of Alex McDonald. Alex's first foray into the sport of harness racing was with the race mare Little Flyer, which won 6 times in 1979 including a heat of the 3YO Championships at Corbiewood. Among his notable horses were Surprise Princess, Surprise Surprise and Baby Bird who won the BHRC Sire Stakes at York as a 2 year old and as a 4 year old she won her first race of the season at Corbiewood in 1988 in a time of 2.09 which was the fastest time recorded at the track that year. Little Flyer then went on to be again successful as a broodmare for him producing Flyers Comet who led out and made all to win the Tregaron 2yo Championship. Alex was indeed also the first Scottish driver to win a race at Tregaron doing so with Morton Flight in 1988. He regularly attended the races with his brother Will. Alex had a successful haulage business and was a bookmaker for some time in Plean in the 90’s along with being a publican running the Plean Tavern. We send our sympathies to his children Jean, Margaret, Ian and Alex Jnr as well as grandson Ryan who is successfully carrying on the family tradition in harness racing.
